Advice For Buying a New Car

By Felicia Cranston

If you are looking to buy a new car, I have a few tips for you here that should make the process a lot easier.

When it comes to negotiating prices, start as you mean to go. Make sure you are confident and assertive with out being rude. Play the dealer at his own game; they rely on you being easily manipulated. So get the message across that they need you and your money more than you need their car.

This dealer is not your friend; do not be sucked into their small talk. This is the way they put people off their stride and get them to sign the contract. Firmly let them know that you are there to do business, not to arrange a lunch date.

The main reason that salespeople chat about everything under the sun is to get you to drop your guard and let them manipulate you. They are good at their job and know instinctively when to strike. If you like and trust someone you are easier to talk into things.

Be prepared and do your research before you enter the lot. If you have seen an ad for a similar model, take it with you. Try and find out the Kelly Bluebook value and make a note of that too. Another good idea is to find out what others have paid or cars at that lot and what terms they were given. This gives you a great bargaining point when it comes down to the nitty gritty of thrashing out the final deal.

Always bear in mind that the dealers need your business. A lot of sales people work on a commission only basis, so if they don't sell they get no pay check. This put you in a very advantageous position as you can easily go elsewhere.

Never doubt that you are in the right and don't let the salesman make you think that you. Rolling of the eyes and sharp intakes of breath are all just attempts to make you doubt your confidence. Stick to your guns, and only sign on the dotted line if you get the car you want, at the price you want and on the payment terms that you want.

A great accessory for your car once you've bought it is the antenna ball, which you can learn about at http://antennaball.net.
